After my post last week about speed work, I thought it might be nice to mention which marathon I am training for.
I think I have talked before about my inability to actually make a decision about ANYTHING. And I’m talking anything. What to eat for lunch? I could make a pros and cons list for hours about what I should eat. I discuss (with myself) the distance of the restaurant, the price, the food, etc. Eventually I just become extremely hungry and eat everything from our cafeteria downstairs. (I don’t recommend this plan for healthy eating or weight loss. For realz.)
So when deciding on a Fall Marathon, I am very indecisive. And I’m still indecisive. Right now I am between Wineglass Marathon and Chicago Marathon. I’ve made the list of pros/cons, but ultimately I think it is going to come down to my work schedule. I’m sure many people are relate to having a busy season at work – and my busy season is September/October/November (also prime marathon months!). Just thinking about my schedule is giving me a mini heart attack. Just my October schedule:
I am not complaining at all (I actaully love traveling for work) and I completely understand that other people travel for work wayyy more than I do. But it makes choosing a marathon more difficult.
Anyway I want there to be a point to this blog post. And my point is that I’m not going to choose until probably until late September. Maybe even the night before the Wineglass Marathon. YIKES!

Ahhh I’m excited for you & your next marathon, lil speedy chick. Can’t wait to hear which you decide – even if I have to wait til Sept
I say throw caution to the wind and run Austin in Feb instead
Hopefully you are able to come to a decision! I can TOTALLY relate. I am often called “fickle fran” by family and friends because I have such a hard time making a decision, and even when I do I tend to change my mind 17 more times
You still have the sub-4 goal, right? I speak from experience when I say racing the morning after returning from a work trip can really suck. I was shooting for a sub-2 half when I ran Grete’s Gallop in 2010 right after a work trip. I still PR’d (2:03), but it was so exhausting, especially after spending the week eating room service and other crap and having zero time to run that week before the half. If you run before your work trip, you’ll at least be able to control those important factors. So…add one pro to the Wineglass list?
I say Wineglass — get yo sub-4 then dont worry about running on the work trips. My pick.
You can pick which marathon at mile 20 of the marathon like I do…
WINEGLASS
not biased.
I loved running the Chicago marathon, but I think if I were you I’d go Wineglass just to have it done with before all the work travel begins!
So are you figuring a 2-week taper for Wineglass which would be 3 weeks if you went with Chicago?
I love it! So, um “Do I feel like running a marathon tomorrow?” Yeah, I guess I do…okay – Wineglass it is
Traveling for work can help you at least get to a marathon cheaply
RUN AT WINEGLASS.
